Time to Forgive

Compass across the street from the White House

I write this with tears of hope streaming down my face as I watch the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamela Harris

Trump left Office today.   So many are thrilled, so many are irate

Biden was sworn in today as our new President.  So many are thrilled, so many are irate.

We are a nation divided.

For our nation to heal, we need to come together as one unified nation.

Resentment, whether justified or not, is a poison that kills.

Forgiveness is a hard pill to swallow.

How do we forgive when there is so much hatred?

So much happened under Trump's time in office that justifies vitriol. So much happened in Obama's time in office that justifies vitriol.  I predict that much will happen in Biden's time in office that will justify vitriol.

Were were wronged, we disagreed on philosophies and policy, people died, our economy suffered, etc

Events such as this happened in all Presidential eras.

How does this serve us now?  It doesn't.

Dr. Martin Luther King said, "Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars.  Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that,  Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."

A new chapter begins today. How will we all contribute to the story?

I pray that it unfolds peacefully - with love and forgiveness from our hearts.

Love and forgiveness to drive out hate.

Our Communities need this today.

Our Nation needs this today.

The World needs this today.
